AP PHYSICS 2 (5.0 grade weight)
Grades: 12; 1 year – 1 Credit
Prerequisites: AP Physics 1, and instructor approval
This two semester course is designed for a 4-year college bound student who is planning a career in any science related field, including medicine, engineering, and technology. AP Physics 2 will follow the AP Physics 2 curriculum. The AP test given in May is strongly encouraged. Many colleges will give college credit for a score of 3 or better.
AP Physics 2 is an in-depth study of Electro-Magnetism, Optics, and Topics in Modern Physics. Students will improve their analytic and problem solving skills and will be provided with the opportunity to use and apply mathematics to model real world situations. A strong work ethic and a high degree of initiative, self-motivation, and the ability to work independently are required to do well in AP Physics 2. This course will challenge and enlighten those students who wish to prepare themselves for the challenge of a college level science curriculum.
